KoJazz----Change The Subject EP

KoJazz-Change The Subject--(2013)
Artist: KoJazz
Album: Change The Subject EP
Label: Independent
Producers: Suhnraw, BKS, E.Mishene, Al Jazz, Shag, Canya Reial, Kryptonite
Straight out of Mount Vernon, New York, KoJazz member of the group Illustrious has joints such as “Stuck in my Ways” and “High Standards” on rotation. Now, KoJazz comes out with a solo EP of his own featuring his illustrious comrades Mercy and Bishop titled “Change The Subject”. Can this project stand up to its name?
This album brings you through a journey with boom bap beats mixed with some commercial joints that are head nodding and danceable. KoJazz has subject matter and his lyrics are listenable. The beats are amazing on this track. Suhnraw provides KoJazz with a smooth track that suits his style on “Stuck in My Ways”.  Other tracks like the head nodding “Stereotypes” where KoJazz spits about the everyday life of females messing with gassed up dudes while the stand out track “High Standards” featuring fellow comrade Bishop where he urges men to step their female game up and check the high quality of females.  KoJazz brings in his comrade Mercy to call out the wack rappers on the highly energized Canya Reial track “Pros and Cons” while Kryptonite blessed an addictive intoxicating piano infused based that fits KoJazz’s flow on “Boy Smoking Trees”.
Production wise, this album is definitely dope. There are tracks that fit the bill. There are some gaping holes in this project that can’t be overlooked. KoJazz has subject matter and the title is self-explanatory; change the game. The concepts and subject matter are original which makes KoJazz fearless in stepping outside of the box. Although, creatively is embedded throughout the album, his delivery can be monotonous at times. The producers especially BKS, Canya Reial and Kryptonite came through on this project in the best way to complement with KoJazz’s versatility. What makes this project original is the diversity of emotions from pain to braggadocios. In addition, KoJazz has potential; his song writing skills are phenomenal which bring something new to the game. This eight track EP is not a disappointment as we will wait for some more joints from KoJazz and the illustrious clique.
Strong Tracks: “JazziLLino Effect”, “High Standards”, “JazziLLino Affect”, “Pros & Cons”, “Boy Smoking Trees”,
