Willie The Kid and The Alchemist----Masterpiece Theatre

Willie The Kid and Alchemist-Masterpiece Theatre-Independent-(2013)
Artist: Willie The Kid and Alchemist
Album: Masterpiece Theatre
Label: Independent
Producers: Alchemist
The name Willie The Kid sounds familiar to some heads. The Michigan rapper has ring bells on the DJ Drama mixtape series. He is also the younger brother of Wu affiliate La the Darkman and is following his footsteps. Willie has laced up a few tracks and a solo album on his resume. Now he teams up with Alchemist who has been working lately and his beats on various projects prove it. Let’s see if their collaborative album Masterpiece Theatre really brings people to the seats.
The album starts off with the Alchemist lacing the hard beats throughout the whole album. “Shake Dice” begins with a deeply ominous beat with hard drums as Willie flows well on this track. The horns make “Halal Tuna” the first official song of the album addictive for the head nodders as Willie bodies this track Mafioso style. It’s no question that Willie the Kid got the skills to rip the microphone in its entirety. He only has a small guest appearances and rightfully so with this EP. “Medusa” blends well with Willie the Kid teaming up with Action Bronson and Roc Marciano while “Bad Mistake” puts an odd pair with producer Alchemist as both artists come correct.
This EP is very solid that makes a great listen. The tracks are dope and Willie’s delivery matches well. Willie the Kid is one of the most underrated emcees in the game and we will see a lot of him. The Alchemist is one of the best producers in the game, bar none. With all the gems he produced for various artists, he will always put it work. The only mishap about this album is he spits one verse on three minute tracks which may cause some listening fatigue to the radio commercial heads. For hard boom bap and wu-tang fans, this is the EP that is up your alley. With the hard smooth delivery by Willie the Kid plus the various production gems laced by the Chemistry, this is a compatible album that worked to their advantage.
Strong Tracks: “Halal Tuna”, “Livin it Up”, “Medusa”, “Let the Money Stay”
