Southside
Jamaica Queens Lloyd Banks is still putting out music and reminds people that
he is not sitting on the shelf. Although he has not released a studio album in a
couple of years, the mixtapes keep Lloyd Banks going. There is nothing stopping
him from putting out fresh material. This best explains the new mixtape from
Lloyd Banks from the All or Nothing
Series Vol. 1: Failure’s No Option.
As fans should know, you will hear
severe punch lines from the G-Unit solider that will hit you in the abdomen.
This album will switch up moods as the beats complement Banks rhyming style.
Lloyd Banks goes in on the comfort zones of pain, suffering and the results of
success on tracks like the title track “Failures No Option”, “Pain in Variety”,
“You Wish” and “Reminder”. The musical chemistry on the project gels well in
which Lloyd Banks knows how to pick the beats from the right set of producers
especially from Doe Pesci, Beat Butcha and Tha Jerm. On the Formula 2 produced
track “Lead the Blind” this is where Banks spits fluently about his single life
with the ladies while the eerie tracks like “Daily Betrayal” and the Styles P
assisted track “Cover Me” bring out the vicious hunger out of Banks.
Lyrically,
Banks hasn’t lost a step at all; he still has what it takes to body a track. He
demonstrates this with Beat Butcha perfecting the hard kicks to the beat “Tour
Stories”: you got me here now what we’re doing/there’s a lotta outside options
that I can be screwing/ fighting with my conscious cuz it’s you that I’m
pursuing/kick it with that nonsense before you exit and then attune it. He breaks
down the hood psychology on “Pain in Variety”: guess you’re a lucky mutha
f**ker/you survived at twenty one and ain’t at least one touch ya/ this is a
struggle to stay alive/you don’t think that I gonna make it, I tell it all in
your eyes. All in all, Banks can hold his own and definitely knows the
difference between spitting bars and creating songs. This gives him the
advantage and other guest appearances bring light to it like the Raekwon’s
assist “Drop A Diamond” and Mr. Probz blessed through on Tha Jerm’s beat “No Surrender”.
Failure’s
No Option is a very solid project hosted by DJ Drama; the beats complement
Banks lyrical cadence and the guest appearances assist with great delivery
especially Styles P. This is a more cohesive project in which the storytelling
topics and punch lines are the theme. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it fits this
project. Although, there is no certainty of a studio album as of yet, the
mixtapes make sure that the G-Unit soldier is still grinding hard with new
music. This is a great first step to start off the All or Nothing series. For now, let’s take the message to the mind;
Mister Banks proves with his work ethic that Failure is no option because it’s
all or nothing.
