Emilio
Rojas is a name that has been thrown around lately. We have heard of this emcee
from Rochester making noise on the underground scene. He has made countless
music and made a name for himself. Mentored by DJ Green Lantern, he has worked
with some of the recognizable names in the industry. His lyrical prowess is no
slouch and he is slowly breaking in the industry taking baby steps. The Venezuelan
emcee strikes hard with the mixtape that shows No Shame and No Regrets.
Putting this into perspective,
Emilio Rojas is very diverse into his subject matter. This is expressed on
songs like “Shameless”, “Good Morning” and the bouncy track “Low”. Some of the
tracks sound like anthem tracks that hypes up the listener. The Renegades laced the hot beat on “Low” when
Emilio is too real for his city and his flow. Illmind also came correct with
the proper bass lines and heavy drum pattern on “Quiet For You” one of the
standout tracks. Emilio’s rhyme delivery matches some of the beats on the album.
He teams up with Troy Ave, IAMSU and the LOX’s Styles P on the posse cut “Lean
on Em” with tight knit production.
Emilio Rojas also balance between
spitting bars and making a song. However, the mixtape points out a few tracks
that are shaky which sucks the momentum down a notch. “Wake Up with You” has a monotonous
beat pattern with simplistic lyrics for the ladies that don’t create that spark
while “Stack It up” sounds lazy with the annoying singing in the chorus. “Let
It Go” is a motivational track where Emilio encourages young ladies to go after
their dreams despite the outcomes and “Give the World to You” proves the
excellence of song writing and how to relate through pain as he has to be an
independent man on his own terms.
There
is potential on this mixtape and Emilio Rojas proves that he can take the game
by storm. It is a big step in which he shows diversity which will take him
places in the industry. Although some tracks that are a little off, the
Rochester emcee can put other artists to shame. There are joints for you’re the
ride and for the ladies a good balance at its best.
