Scram Jones----Dead Giveaway EP

Scram Jones-Dead Giveaway EP--(2013)
Artist: Scram Jones
Album: Dead Giveaway EP
Label: Independent
Producers: Artist
Artists take advantage of spitting bars and staying behind the boards. Emcees are taking skills to another level producing their own material going back to the DITC days with Diamond D and Lord Finesse and even back further where other artists shown this dominance. The advantage of producing beats for self makes the process easier; the artists complement their rhyming delivery to their own beats. This leads to multi-platinum producer Scram Jones who held production for artists like Styles P, Young Buck, G-Unit, Double AB and so many artists. Make no mistake about, Mister Jones has the skills and is one of the world renowned producers in the game. He introduces the public to his own realm on his own project Dead Giveaway EP.
Scram Jones shows a lot of innovation on this EP. The beginning track “Diabolic” starts off strong with the hard head nodding beat with the DJ scratches applied to it; something that is missing in this hip hop game. As for lyrical content, Scram comes through with slick wordplay that is blessed on tracks like “Wild Style” and “Pay Me No Mind”. Things on this EP takes a turn to the nostalgic 90’s when sampling matters. For example, one of the standout tracks “Friday the 13th” Mister Jones lyrical cadence is compatible with the beat and the additional scratches to it as he starts off without hesitation: red eyes and blue reefer/gorilla out the cage, I killed the zoo keeper/the stool creature on the boards, school teacher/coming out the box shoes sneakers/peanut butter timbz rocking too reeses. The guest appearances gel well with this project like the awesome collaboration with Raekwon on “Full Pack” where the hard beat comes at you: try to stop me and I blacken your eyes like a raccoon/shit on the mic and treat the booth like a bathroom/cut up the records and leave the wax with a stab wound; yes indeed Scram and Rae carried a full track. In addition “No Surprise” featuring the lyrical thought provoker Saigon mellows the beat a beat with simple hi hats that fits well.
Dead Giveaway explains the theme of the project in a nutshell. Awesome authentic production with lyrical cadence and DJ scratches which is essential to a hip hop project. Scram Jones reintroduces the game with tactics that still works. What separates Mister Jones from others is he spits, produces and DJ scratches his own material. Every song on the project he did on his own; he took matters in his own hands. This shows you that you don’t need to follow new trends of selling out to fit in; just use your own musical flair and the music speaks for itself. Scram Jones has given this project the perfect title of raw talent, bringing the right guest appearances and shedding his own style to the project. It’s a dead giveaway!
