Massachusetts has been the focal point of hip hop for a long time. Rappers including the Guru, Ed. O.G., Krumbsnatcher to name made a mark in the game. There comes Beantown’s sharpshooter Termanology who is not new to the game. He has put the pen to the paper and dropping sixteen’s for a hot minute; his previous works speak volumes. Termanology breaks loose with his latest mixtape hosted by DJ Deadeye Hood Politics 7.

            You can tell this mixtape represents the essence of hip hop by paying homage to one of the greatest Big Daddy Kane with a rendition album cover of the classic Long Live the Kane. The production on the album is top notch that speaks lyrical/music compatibility. One of the highlight tracks is the Statik Selektah produced “Situations” when Term spits on turning situations from nothing to something with a cool laid back beat. Term’s lyrics speak about loyalty on this track: but it’s good to stay close/to the ones that was with you scraping your burnt toast/ at the crib, pouring water in your cereal/not the groupies standing around in your video. A real concept of who your friends are. We Stay High featuring Wais P and Ras Kass fits perfectly with the kicks and smashing clash beat behind it while the Harry Fraud’s energy blazing Love for Money brings a tight cohesion. Men of Respect where Term teams up with Wu soliders Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna, Bad Luck and Low Eyes brings tight production of Mathematics to another level.

            One thing about Termanology is that he strengthens the art of diversification. He can break a radio friendly type of track from an old school perspective with a contemporary bounce to it. The remix to Up Every Night is a prime example as he teams up with Corey Gunz and Kid Ink blends well while Up Against the Wall has a rough edge spitting the G to the ladies that can really sell. A few tracks lost steam as the strong tracks supersedes tremendously. Around the World and The Block Iz on Fire sound generic with the production that put much impact. The mixtape ends well with the Outro and the remix to Lights Down featuring Mississippi’s Big K.R.I.T.

            Hood Politics 7 is a great listen where Term knows how to pick beats and guest appearances. Term separates himself from the average rapper spitting a sixteen. He uses diversification on this mixtape that shows that you can’t be one dimensional. Termnaology is at his best over Statik Selektah’s beats which makes the cohesion very stellar. Term knows about staying up at his game and staying true proves it. Speaking the hood politics requires tight production and lyricism; this definitely fit the bill.
