Prodigy has garnered his style as one of the brightest storytellers in the game. He has made himself a legend as one half of the Infamous Mobb Deep and made countless guest appearances. He even initiated the thun language that spark the essence of street music. Prodigy has also made solo ventures that still kept his head above water proving that he can hold the microphone on his own as well. Teaming up with west coast producer the Alchemist didn’t lose its luster as he expands beat selections. After a somewhat lukewarm debut “Return of the Mac” the duo returns with “Albert Einstein” that hopes not to suffer the sophomore jinx.

Albert Einstein starts off strong arming competitors with dope piano based samples and hard hitting drum patterns. Throughout this album, the Alchemist has proven to be one of the feared producers that ever touched the beat machine. Tracks like “Dough Pilding”, “Give em Hell” and “LMDKV” are prime examples of lacing dope beats which initiate the hunger in Prodigy’s lyrics. In addition, the guest appearances fit the focus of the album. “Death Sentence” shares Prodigy with Roc Marciano over a heavy flute infused beat provided by Chemistry at his finest although the track is short that wanted more from the listener. Interesting enough, Prodigy teams up with his brethren Havoc and Wu-Tang’s Raekwon on a fast tempo guitar infused beat “R.I.P.” to the most ominous “Confessions” when P spits the hood stories that make him a household name of street music just like the Mobb Deep albums. The last track to end the album with striking force is “Say My Name” when P spits his name three times like Candyman while messing up your mind like Freddy Kruger in your sleep

Overall, this album is not considered slept on. Although more innovated than Return of the Mac, this album takes music to an all-time level. There are minor gaping holes in the album such as Prodigy’s lyrical dexterity. Alchemist really provide Prodigy with some fire beats that create the hunger delivery that surpasses Return of the Mac but the old school 90’s lyrical strength waned a little bit. Old school cats missed lyrics like gunshots will make you levitate on “Shook Ones 2” or music song creation like “You Can Never Feel My Pain” from the H.N.I.C. album. There are a few songs that didn’t make that impact punch and not a hit song that represent the album but there are no wack songs whatsoever. As long as many listeners still embraced Prodigy, the latest album still holds its weight. Time to meet the Albert Einstein of the biz!
