I'm definitely feeling this beat provided by Sickness Beats. The jingles are crazy on this new Emilio Rojas joint "Ziggy". Ziggy is the first single from Emilio Rojas mixtape Opportunity Knox 2.

Curtessy and The Militia-----Expectations
Curtessy and The Militia-Expectations--(2013)
Artist: Curtessy and The
Militia
Album: Expectations
Label: Independent
Producers: The Militia
South
Central LA emcee Curtessy teams up with Johannesburg producer The Militia and
cooks up some good music. The tag team duo has hit the masses with their debut
project Look What The Streets Made Me EP
craved by many hip hop blogs and websites. The raspy voice of Curtessy blends
well with the soulful production of The Militia. With their impressive EP under
their belt, they are back with their full length LP Expectations.
This album starts off in the right
direction. The production skills are straight off the hook from The Militia
that complements Curtessy flow. One thing about this project is Curtessy will
take you into his world. The soulful production on tracks like “A New Day” and “What
It Seems” are examples of painting a mental picture after a few listens. Curtessy
lyrics shine like a gem on “A New Day”: over this boom bap, make your soul clap
over this soul track/swing like a battle axe out in combat/back without further
ado/me and Militia presents Expectations track number two. The album rises up
the temperature really quick as the Militia throws that boom bap golden era
influences on the boards on tracks like “One” featuring Khrysis and “Emcee”
where Curtessy pays homage to where lyrics really matter in the 90’s. The
standout track is where Curtessy brings the listeners to the life of California
in the nostalgic “South Central” where the storytelling is brought to another level:
born in san diego, raised in south central/this place the intro, where I learn
my info/use to play Nintendo, smoke my first indo/backflip off the roof, back
when I liked school.
Overall, this project is definitely
a banger with boom bap and soulful production with the cool lyrical delivery
from Curtessy and the Militia. Expectations
have a well-balanced theme towards it like a storytelling book that has a
beginning, middle and end. The guest appearances from Khyrsis, Pro Logik, Midaz
the Beast, Wally Left and Rome Clientel brings added flavor to the project.
This is a strong underground album which will unfortunately be overlooked
because of the fluff from the music world that supersedes talent. Otherwise, if
you’re looking for some hard head nodding beats with storytelling spitting lyrical
venom, look no further from this gem project “Expectations”.
